EconEssay [1] - Results and Statistics

his initiative is introduced with the key goal to encourage research scholars and research motivated aspirants to make use as a stepping stone towards their research writing, specifically with respect to the publishing of research articles. Through EconEssay, we try to develop essay writing skills among the budding economists with the focus in wide variety of categories such as mini essays (short articles), opinion papers, book reviews, movie reviews, research analysis, argumentative essays etc. This may include topics which are pertaining to the subject matter of economics, or other areas which are closely in tandem with economics which ensures the pragmatic relevance and the interdisciplinary nature of this beautiful subject.

Summary Statistics

As part of the EconEssay [1] conducted through online platform where we have received almost a large number of essays/ articles from different economic aspirants across the country. The participants including students from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi School of Economics (DSE), Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), University of Delhi (DU), Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE), University of Kerala, Calcutta University  and various other colleges and institutes.

Judging Criteria

From a total responses of about 33 submissions within a shorter span of time, out of this a sum of 15 articles are shortlisted (by team Economiga) based on the following criteria for final evaluation by the judges;
    • Formatting (Font size, Spacing, Alignment) - 5 points
    • Word Limit (500-1200) - 5 points
    • Author bio - 5 points
    • Economic Relevance - 5 points
    • Referencing (Any style) - 10 points
    • Catchy Title - 5 points
    • Plagiarism - Pass/Fail
After the first round the selected manuscripts were sent across the judges for final valuation which considered the following indicators:
    • Content authenticity
    • Style of writing and presentation
    • Relevance of the topic
    • Simplicity in articulation 
Through a comprehensive evaluation process involving both absolute and relative scoring and impartial and unbiased valuation criterion , fulfilling the objectives of what the competition stands for we came into the final results.
